Twitter and Libraries

Public Libraries fully embrace Twitter! It is great to see it happening!
I had a good look at Twitter accounts and postings of public libraries in New Zealand and overseas.
It seems that libraries use Twitter as a digital bulletin board by passing on information of all kinds: from available services and collections to particular events.
Some public libraries have more interaction with other members going on than others. I believe it is due to consistency and regularity of tweets from the library. There must be a dedicated and motivated staff members with technical knowledge and knowledge about the Library itself to pass this information on.
Some messages follow the same, repeated format (boring...!) others make an effort to tweet more entertaining and surprising posts.Yes, it is easier to have the same format, but members will get very tired of the same phrase. So make some effort and use great wealth of English vocabulary!
Public libraries use all kind of Web2.0 applications to present their collections&services. Flick seems to be the most popular to publish photos, there are some Facebook accounts/fan groups, and use of YouTube.
I would definitely follow on Twitter some libraries, these in New Zealand and overseas.

If I was tweeting in behalf of my library, I would tweet:
* Feeling creative? Get your hands on books from Interior Design collection (link to the catalogue displaying books from the collection)
* Get the autograph from (author's name) at the (book title) launch in ... Library on 20 June at 6pm
* Latest news from newspapers around the world via PressDisplay
* Looking for some warming reading this winter? Ask the librarian for the latest books in the Library
